RÅDHUSET

5. A Sunken Gate

Place yourself by one of the tunnel openings by the exit to Polishuset.

The artist himself thought that the most fantastic thing about this station is the beautiful gate that he found right by the opening of the tunnel for trains heading south. The story is charming, but clearly made up. The gate was modeled on site after the original from Vadstena Castle.

Note: Vadstena Castle is a castle that king Gustav Vasa had built in the 1500s in Vadstena municipality, around 250 km southwest of Stockholm.
